Flora Nwakobi (they/them) is a shapeshifter. They feel most like a mushroom, to be taken with caution for they might try to deepen your connection with nature, and question what life is really about.

On the more tangible side, they identify with being queer and non-binary not only as an identity but as a political stance to mark irreverence towards systems of thinking and behaving that keeps us confined to a digestible box.

It is from this thinking which Flora creates art from. They enjoy creating expansive art and spaces that question dominant narratives, reimagine what is possible, and inspire action and connection.

Flora has 10 years of experience freelancing as an independent videographer and editor. They’ve programmed films for TIFF, acted with Soulpepper Theatre Company, and premiered their first short film at the Toronto Short Film Festival. Their writing has been featured in media outlets such as Toronto Star, CTV, CBC News, and they've had work featured in multiple art magazines and online platforms. They are currently working on their largest project yet, a short dark comedy-thriller film titled “Cafe Apocalypse”.
